Role Overview

Join Awesome Motive Inc. as a WordPress Developer on a remote team. You’ll help keep the platform robust, scalable, and innovative by building and maintaining features from conception through deployment, collaborating with cross-functional teammates to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

• Triaging bugs and implementing small enhancements based on GitHub issues
• Scoping, developing, and testing new product features and add-ons
• Refactoring legacy code while maintaining backward compatibility and improving performance
• Providing constructive feedback and performing peer reviews on pull requests
• Communicating with the team via chat and audio/video to maintain clarity and momentum
• Collaborating to solve complex technical challenges and share knowledge
• Participating in planning sessions to estimate effort and define scope
• Staying current with web development trends and applying best practices

Requirements

• Professional experience in WordPress plugin development, architecture, and adherence to coding standards
• Advanced PHP and MySQL skills, including modern PHP practices (OOP, autoloading, namespaces, traits, interfaces)
• Strong JavaScript knowledge: vanilla JS, jQuery, and ES6
• Experience with build tools: Gulp and Webpack; and package managers: Composer and NPM
• Experience with third-party APIs such as Stripe, Drip, and Zapier
• Competency with Git and GitHub
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to ship features efficiently; quick iteration
• Remote work or freelancing experience preferred
• Personal computer with reliable internet
• Availability for audio/video meetings during EST (9am–5pm)

• Prior freelancing/remote experience
