About the role

Role overview

Zoom is seeking a Web Engineer Lead to design, enhance, and deliver the engineering framework for Zoom’s global web presence. You will help modernize a large, multi-domain website footprint with an emphasis on scalability, performance, accessibility, governance, and AI/SEO readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize and scale website architecture across a multi-domain and multi-tenant web estate (marketing sites, product hubs, support portals, developer portals, and regional sites).
  • Consolidate fragmented properties and advance toward a CDN-delivered, cloud-hosted stack on AWS and Azure.
  • Implement Core Web Vitals optimization, performance engineering, URL/routing strategies, and WCAG-compliant localized experiences.
  • Build an advanced performance reporting layer using:
    • Core Web Vitals dashboards
    • Synthetic monitoring tools such as Lighthouse CI, SpeedCurve, Calibre, New Relic
  • Integrate Amplitude for product analytics, funnel reporting, site-health SLOs, and regression alerting.
  • Tie web performance and uptime to business outcomes by correlating Core Web Vitals regressions, latency spikes, and downtime with conversion and bounce impact.
  • Strengthen observability and reliability engineering: monitoring, alerting, SLAs/SLOs, and CI/CD pipelines for deployments on AWS/Azure.
  • Lead CMS architecture and large-scale migrations (from Optimizely and/or WordPress) through reliable cutovers while preserving:
    • business continuity
    • SEO/AEO
    • performance and governance
  • Own technical framework for SEO and AI-search readiness, including SSR/SSG, schema/structured data, canonicals, hreflang, and sitemaps—coordinating with SEO/AEO teams for visibility across LLM-based experiences.
  • Drive AI-powered efficiency in engineering and operations using GitHub, Cursor, AI-assisted CI/CD, and intelligent debugging, and expand AI workflows into content operations, SEO/AEO, QA, and release management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing large-scale web architecture decisions.
  • Deep proficiency with modern CMS platforms, including Optimizely (CMS 12, SaaS, DXP) and WordPress.
  • Experience with backend work and integration across .NET, C#, PHP, including APIs, content modeling, caching, and CDN configuration.
  • Strong experience with enterprise CMS transformation, including migrations, platform consolidations, and re-architecture.
  • Expertise in performance optimization and Core Web Vitals reporting/monitoring.
  • Ability to preserve SEO/AEO and governance during migrations and go-live.
  • Experience with SSR/SSG/structured data and technical SEO foundations for both traditional search and AI/LLM discoverability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multi-site/multi-tenant patterns and advanced platform evaluation/cutover planning.
  • Familiarity with performance tools such as Lighthouse CI, SpeedCurve, Calibre, New Relic.
  • Experience integrating analytics and regression alerting with tools like Amplitude and building SLO-driven reporting.

Collaboration

Work closely with the Senior Engineering Manager and partner teams across Marketing, Product, Design, and Localization, plus SEO/AEO specialists, to deliver reliable, fast, accessible, and measurable web experiences.
