About the role
Role: Web Developer (Mid to Senior)
Join WSP’s Visual Studios Interactive Department within Advanced Complimentary Services. You’ll work on modern, high-impact interactive web applications, collaborating closely with UX/UI designers and internal visualization/technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of web applications: requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance
- Translate wireframes and mockups into performant, user-centered web applications
- Build scalable web apps with strong UI performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility
- Integrate geospatial functionality using APIs/SDKs (e.g., mapping platforms)
- Apply cloud-first and responsive design methodologies
- Create and maintain source code repositories using Git
- Collaborate with designers, developers, project leads/managers, and clients
- Mentor and support team members via code reviews and technical guidance
- Write unit tests and conduct exploratory/guided testing
- Mitigate vulnerabilities including those in the OWASP Top 10
- Debug, support, and maintain web applications; provide technical support to end users
Requirements
- 6+ years of web development experience
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design
- Strong experience supporting/maintaining production web applications used by end users
- Hands-on experience integrating with APIs (e.g., Google Maps or similar mapping platforms)
- Strong JavaScript and JSON knowledge
- Ability to write clear documentation and maintain readable, commented code
- Experience creating motion/interactivity to drive user engagement
- Proven mentoring and cross-training experience, including conducting code reviews
- Strong analytical/troubleshooting/debugging skills and willingness to learn
- Experience using Git in a collaborative, multi-developer environment
- Solid understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years with Vue.js (or similar front-end frameworks)
- Experience with Quasar or other UI libraries/frameworks
- Understanding of OOP, common design patterns, and data structures
- Experience working with SVG (text cuts off in source)
