About the role
Role overview
Tempest is looking for a passionate Web Developer to join its team. You will work with the support, delivery, and account services teams to update existing websites and build new features and websites for destination organizations across North America.
Responsibilities
- Update features on client websites built on Craft CMS
- Troubleshoot issues and resolve challenges on client sites
- Integrate third-party tools and solutions into existing websites (e.g., CRM, Search, Reservations, Events)
- Develop new websites and web features
- Maintain and improve client website performance
- Provide scope and hour estimates for client requests
- Communicate task and project status to the Web Development Director and web team
- Write and maintain clear documentation
- Add creative front-end enhancements
- Research and learn new technologies
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience (2–3 years at an agency preferred)
- Strong understanding of web standards and ability to write clean, semantic HTML5
- Experience with Craft CMS (or similar CMS such as WordPress/Drupal/ExpressionEngine)
- SASS (CSS preprocessor) experience
- Source control/workflow experience including Git and tooling such as Vite and CLI tools
- Proficiency in JavaScript (including ES6) with familiarity in vanilla JavaScript, Vue.js, Alpine.js, and TypeScript
- Accessibility guidance with a commitment to ADA compliance
- Experience consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL APIs
- Professional communication and a positive attitude
Nice to have
- Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)
- Adobe Creative Suite and vector graphics
Location & work style
- Philadelphia, PA (Center City). Flexible working from home with a remote policy.
- Comfortable working with distributed teams across time zones.
