About the role
Role Overview
The Sport Performance And Research Center (SPARC) at Emory University is seeking a Web Developer to design, develop, and maintain web applications and digital content that support research dissemination and outreach. You’ll work with researchers, clinicians, and communications teams to turn complex scientific information into clear, accessible digital experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and create user-centric website and application interfaces (information architecture, graphic design, UI development)
- Analyze user behavior and stakeholder needs to understand requirements and inform digital projects
- Conduct light research: review current behaviors, interview stakeholders, and study emerging trends
- Develop mock-ups, prototypes, templates, graphics, interfaces, and websites for production
- Implement final XHTML/CSS and web templates within publishing environments
- Collaborate with stakeholders to propose cost-effective, high-quality solutions and advise on feasibility
- Evaluate design usability through testing and domain expertise
- Serve as a liaison between the department and contractors to ensure quality deliverables
- Design, develop, and maintain SPARC web applications supporting research and outreach goals
- Create visual assets for scientific publications, presentations, and promotional materials
- Ensure content is accessible, responsive, and aligned with university branding standards
- Support continuous improvement of digital platforms through innovation and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years experience in website design and development
- Proficiency in HTML and CSS, plus modern front-end frameworks
- Experience with content management systems (CMS)
- Strong graphic design and visual communication skills
- Experience developing and maintaining web applications
- Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear visual/digital content
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred
- Knowledge of scientific illustration or data visualization
