Web Developer (Remote)

Role Overview

Staff-level software engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining modern full-stack web applications. You’ll use AI-assisted development tools alongside established engineering practices to deliver secure, scalable software in a healthcare/regulatory setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and deploy full-stack web applications
• Build responsive, accessible UI components using React and modern frontend technologies
• Create backend services/APIs and microservices using Node.js and Python
• Support hosting, server management, and deployment pipelines
• Contribute to CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices
• Monitor, analyze, and improve application performance and reliability
• Document, investigate, prioritize, and resolve software defects
• Research and recommend improvements to tools, frameworks, and development processes
• Ensure security, privacy, and compliance (PHI/HIPAA) standards are met

AI-Assisted Development (Key Expectations)

• Use AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitLab Duo) throughout the development lifecycle for code generation/refactoring and debugging
• Treat AI outputs as advisory; perform thorough validation, testing, and code review
• Follow secure/compliant AI usage rules (no PHI/PII or confidential logic; use only approved tools)
• Maintain traceability/audit readiness (e.g., clear commit messages and documentation of AI-assisted decisions)

Requirements

• Ability to design, implement, test, document, and maintain software per coding standards and best practices
• Experience building scalable APIs and backend services with Node.js and Python
• Ability to build accessible UI components with React
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing/DevOps practices
• Strong security and compliance mindset for healthcare environments (PHI/HIPAA)

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience leveraging AI coding assistants in day-to-day development
• Experience improving delivery via AI-assisted workflows, including sharing prompt designs and learnings
• Experience mitigating risks from AI-generated code (logic errors, security issues, licensing/compliance concerns)
