About the role
Role Overview
WDS Architect (Workplace Digital Services) responsible for leading architecture efforts for collaboration platforms and ecosystems. You will define current and target state architectures and create a 3-year roadmap for the domain, partnering with stakeholders and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Meet business stakeholders and engineering teams to capture perspectives and align on direction
- Engage with the IT Architecture community (formal/informal venues)
- Brief stakeholders and present architecture recommendations to leadership
- Domain Assessment & Roadmapping
- Review current and past domain assessments and develop a new domain assessment (current state, gaps, risks, recommendations)
- Create and present a 3-year roadmap including current/target state architectures and a transition plan
- Standards, Decisions & Governance
- Create and maintain Standards, Waivers, Tech Decisions, and Assessments
- Apply architecture processes and governance practices
- Govern portfolio processes and support Business of Architecture activities
- Support governance for app approval, data classification, and data lifecycle policies
- Process & Risk Participation
- Participate in TPA, TPRM, and CRP processes
- Drive technical decisions ensuring alignment with standards and waivers
- Review/proof artifacts with peer architects and engineering leadership/community
- Technical Expertise & Platform Experience
- Deep experience with collaboration suites:
- Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange)
- Slack Enterprise Grid, Zoom (incl. Box)
- Collaboration telemetry/analytics/adoption dashboards; knowledge of Aternity
- Understand platform extensibility (AI features, APIs, app frameworks, bots, workflows)
- Evaluate SaaS vendors, licensing models, and feature roadmaps
- Identity & access management: Azure AD, Okta (conditional access, MFA, SSO, least privilege)
- Secure data handling: DLP and encryption
- Solution architecture: translate business requirements into scalable architectures and define functional/non-functional requirements (performance, availability, compliance)
- Roadmapping & governance: define platform roadmaps with versioning and deprecation plans
