Water Safety Specialist

Role Overview

The Water Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring a safe waterfront and water-activity environment, responding to emergencies, and supporting safety procedures across beach and pool areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform opening, operating, and closing duties in line with security department guidelines.
• Monitor guest activity in assigned areas to maintain a continual safe environment.
• Respond to emergencies within assigned zones, with a focus on waterfront (beach) areas.
• Use trained techniques and operate watercraft and rescue boards to enter the water to assist or rescue individuals.
• Administer First Aid and/or CPR during emergency situations.
• Identify hazardous situations and behaviors and respond promptly.
• Assist with pool or beach evacuation procedures, including removal and retention of guests.
• Operate safety equipment and controls for recreational ride systems:
  • Manually control motorized ride lift operations using mechanical ride control switchboards, including starting, stopping, and evacuating.
  • Conduct ride evacuation and safety protocols using emergency action plan techniques.
  • Manually control motorized ride dispatch operations using mechanical ride dispatch switchboards to launch riders safely.
• Supervise ride activity via live video monitors located in the video control area.

Requirements

• Trained ability to perform water rescues using watercraft and rescue boards.
• Ability to administer First Aid and/or CPR.
• Strong hazard recognition and emergency response skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with emergency action plans and evacuation/safety protocols for water-based attractions and ride systems.
