VP Legal

Role Overview

Join Duetto as the VP of Legal and own the company’s legal function end-to-end. You’ll partner closely with the CFO, the Board, and the PE sponsor to build the legal infrastructure needed for scalable growth and an efficient path to exit.

Key Missions

• Own and develop the company’s legal strategy to support growth.
• Partner with leadership to establish scalable commercial contracting processes and playbooks/manuals that enable effective sales execution.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and oversee the global legal budget, allocating resources strategically.
• Establish and evolve corporate governance frameworks.
• Oversee enterprise risk management development/evolution.
• Manage employment law across a global workforce.

Requirements

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 15+ years of professional legal experience, including meaningful experience at high-growth technology companies.
• Strong SaaS commercial expertise:
  • Subscription agreements
  • Data processing addenda
  • API and partner agreements
  • Enterprise deal structuring
• Expertise in AI/ML product legal issues, including:
  • Data licensing
  • Algorithmic accountability
  • Privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, and emerging US frameworks)
  • Automated decision-making regulations
• Experience with corporate governance (e.g., Board Secretary or equivalent).
• Experience with international corporate structures and related impacts on growth velocity and financials (regulatory/compliance overhead, tax exposure, workforce management).
• M&A experience in a PE context and experience supporting a company through a PE-to-exit cycle.
• Strong executive communication: translating complex legal concepts into actionable guidance for non-legal leaders.
• Employment law competence across multiple jurisdictions.
