VP, Design Studio

Role overview

Headspace is seeking a VP, Design Studio to lead and scale a multidisciplinary design organization spanning Design Research, Experience & Interface Design, and Creative Design. Reporting to the Chief Product & Design Officer, you will set the end-to-end design vision and strategy across Headspace’s portfolio, ensuring human-centered experiences that drive measurable product and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive a holistic design vision and strategy, integrating research, experience design, and creative across products and brand touchpoints
• Own design accountability for measurable outcomes tied to engagement, retention, growth, and other business performance metrics
• Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team and leadership bench across research, product design, content design, and brand/creative
• Embed research as a strategic pillar, integrating user insights into product development, business strategy, and innovation pipelines
• Elevate end-to-end experience design (mobile, web, and enterprise), ensuring journeys are intuitive, accessible, and engaging
• Oversee and evolve creative direction and brand expression, ensuring consistency, emotional resonance, and differentiation
• Develop and scale design systems, frameworks, and tooling to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Clinical, and Commercial teams to align design strategy with business goals and influence roadmap decisions
• Lead AI-first thinking for future mental health experiences, including AI-driven personalization and intelligent care delivery concepts
• Champion a culture of experimentation and innovation using emerging technologies to enhance member experiences
• Use data to continuously improve outcomes (e.g., usability, NPS, conversion, accessibility) and make design impact visible
