About the role

Role Overview

VP, BizGov at Instructure will lead the Business & Government (BizGov) sector as a senior commercial operator. This is not a sales or marketing role—it's a sector P&L leadership position responsible for strategy, multi-year planning, and cross-functional execution.

Responsibilities

Own BizGov multi-year strategy and top-line performance
- Drive bookings, renewals, revenue, and ARR
- Own non-renewal bookings and renewal bookings
- Manage performance to an approved budget and mitigate issues early using metrics
Set and execute sector direction
- Define how Instructure wins across workforce, government, and corporate markets
- Make explicit "named bets" and "named no's"
Lead cross-functional execution through an Operational Leadership Team
- Orchestrate senior leaders from Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Product, Finance, and others
- Make the team operate like a sector P&L team (not a side project)
Create and maintain the “Strategy Contract”
- Annual artifact that locks in targets, bets, resourcing, and functional commitments
Partner with functional EC leaders (co-accountability)
- Work peer-to-peer with leaders including Chief Growth Officer, CMO, CPO, CFO to align on what each function delivers
- Resolve disagreements at the right level
Shape product roadmap inputs
- Provide BizGov signal (competitive losses, potential ARR, customer evidence) to Chief Product Officer
- Co-accountability for delivering on roadmap commitments once set
Serve as external face of BizGov
- Represent the sector with customers, partners, analysts, and the executive committee (EC)

Requirements

Proven experience as an operator who has run a business (built/led a sector or similar commercial organization)
Ability to set multi-year strategy and run a multi-year P&L outlook
Experience orchestrating multiple functions behind sector outcomes
Strong metrics/financial discipline around bookings, renewals, revenue, ARR, and contribution margin P&L

Nice to Have

Direct familiarity with workforce, government, and/or corporate market go-to-market dynamics
