About the role

Role overview

Volunteer AI Software & Web Developer (part-time, flexible hours; fully remote).

Help maintain, expand, and optimize KAIS’s digital platforms—including the keepaisafe.org website, KAIS Academy, and multiple safety tools—within a fully AI-native development workflow.

What you’ll do

Build new pages and features for keepaisafe.org (React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Express).
Expand KAIS Academy, the education platform.
Improve and extend safety tooling, including:
- Toy safety ratings
- Live AI incident monitoring
- Gaming safety resources (e.g., gaming safety scanner)
Optimize page speed, Core Web Vitals, and on-page SEO.
Support deployments on Railway and configuration via Cloudflare.
Use Claude Code in VS Code as a core daily workflow, and help refine AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

Strong modern web development experience (e.g., React, TypeScript, Node.js or similar).
Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as a core part of your workflow.
Solid web design skills: responsive layouts, accessibility, and attention to visual detail.
Self-directed and reliable; able to own features from idea through production.
Ability to commit consistent volunteer hours each week (schedule is flexible).

Nice to have

Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, Framer Motion.
PostgreSQL / Drizzle.
Experience with Railway or Cloudflare.
SEO and analytics familiarity.
Interest in AI safety or child protection.

It uses education, independent safety ratings, live incident monitoring, and parent guidance to help households navigate AI risks with clarity and confidence. The organization builds testing and certification infrastructure for children’s AI safety.
