Visual Design Lead, UX

Role overview

Lead the UX visual design function for Cricut’s software experiences across desktop and mobile platforms, in close collaboration with product, research, engineering, and creative/marketing teams. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on using visual communication to create intuitive, compelling, brand-consistent user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Create visual designs that support compelling user experiences across multiple platforms, including software that integrates with Cricut branded hardware
• Translate complex ideas into simple, useful visual designs
• Collaborate with UX researchers, interaction designers, software developers, and QA to deliver high-quality visual design that communicates interactivity
• Help drive development of a visual design system to improve consistency and accelerate UX and development
• Participate throughout the user-centered design process:
  • visualize possibilities early
  • create graphics for user-testable prototypes
  • deliver pixel-perfect, implementation-ready designs
• Clearly communicate design direction and rationale and ensure design aligns with user needs and business goals

Work in a highly cross-functional environment with:

• Interaction designers, researchers, product managers
• Software developers
• Industrial designers
• Marketing and Creative teams

Requirements / Qualifications

• Seasoned UX visual design leadership experience
• Strong vision and ability to communicate it effectively
• Deep problem-solving skills in the context of UX design
• Experience leading/directing a small team of UX visual designers (hands-on leadership)
