Responsibilities

  • Solution & Discovery: Lead and participate in discovery sessions; evaluate user requirements with product owners, project managers, business leads, and customer success.

  • Design Artifacts: Create and illustrate ideas with mockups, storyboards, process flows, sitemaps, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Workflows & Navigation: Build complex workflows, navigation models, and user flows.
  • UX Strategy: Use analytics and a strategic lens to identify trends and recommend improvements to user experience.
  • UX Process & Framework: Contribute to UX processes and maintain Smile’s in-house UX Style Framework, ensuring consistent application across projects.
  • Customer Advocacy: Translate business needs and technical constraints into user-centered designs; advocate for design thinking.
  • Validation & Accessibility: Validate flows and prototypes with end-users/user proxies; design inclusive experiences aligned with accessibility best practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience as a UX/UI Designer (or similar role); post-secondary education preferred.
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum team.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating meaningful, user-centered experience design.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to turn ideas into clear UX solutions.
  • Excellent communication; familiarity with standard design methodologies.
  • Proven visual design skills (clear visual hierarchies).
  • Knowledge of qualitative UX methods (e.g., usability testing, remote testing) and when to use them.
  • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture.
  • Highly proficient in Figma, including components/design systems, variables, and interactive prototyping.
  • Significant experience building and maintaining design systems.
  • Experience with user research and research methodologies.
  • (Role description is truncated; additional requirements appear to relate to healthcare experience.)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience contributing to FHIR/healthcare-related UX or domain knowledge in digital health (implied by the posting).
