About the role
Role Overview
Lead qualitative, generative design research to uncover deep human insights and emerging behavioral trends that inform future product and service experiences. Partner closely with design, product, and research teams to turn forward-looking insights into strategic opportunities for innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end qualitative and generative research initiatives, including in-person and in-context studies
- Synthesize findings into actionable insights, strategic frameworks, and opportunity areas for long-term innovation
- Create visually driven storytelling artifacts and presentations to communicate insights and inspire stakeholders
- Translate research into strategic outputs such as design principles, future scenarios, and innovation concepts
- Facilitate workshops and working sessions to activate research and drive cross-functional alignment
- Connect future-focused insights to near-term product opportunities with product, design, and business stakeholders
- Collaborate with research teams to identify knowledge gaps and inform forward-looking research roadmaps
- Deliver polished, high-quality work with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Required Qualifications
- 6–7+ years of experience in design research, design strategy, or related fields
- Strong qualitative design research background, focused on qualitative and generative research
- Proven experience conducting in-person and in-context research (e.g., ethnographic/field research)
- Expertise in qualitative methodologies including ethnographic, co-design, semiotic, and other design research methods
- Excellent written/verbal communication and strong visual storytelling/presentation skills
- Experience working cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams
- Ability to manage ambiguity and operate proactively to deliver high-quality outputs
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (HCI, design research, social sciences, or related)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with emerging technologies (e.g., AI, AR/VR/XR, connected devices)
- Familiarity with future-focused research methods (e.g., trend analysis, foresight, STEEP)
- Proficiency with modern tools for research synthesis and storytelling (design/AI tools)
- Experience creating strategic artifacts like scenarios, speculative concepts, or innovation frameworks
