About the role
Role Overview
You’ll join GitLab’s UX Research team, supporting multiple product domains including Core DevOps Workflows, Monetization, Security, and Compliance. The role involves quickly ramping up in a highly technical area, leading tactical research to help teams make fast decisions, and contributing to strategic research to uncover user needs and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Become the expert on users in your coverage area: how they use GitLab, their pain points, and workflows.
- Collaborate with UX designers, Product Managers, and engineers across research projects.
- Own UX research end-to-end: identify → plan → drive → conduct → analyze → report insights.
- Use a mixed-methods approach (qualitative and quantitative) to answer research questions.
- Provide project status and updates to stakeholders.
- Advocate for and socialize actionable insights to build empathy and drive change.
- Contribute alongside Senior/Staff UX Researchers, including participating in more complex studies.
Requirements
- Strong mixed-methods UX research experience.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, balancing speed and rigor, and adapting to changing timelines.
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and guide them toward appropriate research approaches.
- Proven ability to thrive in an iterative, fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to ramp up in a highly technical domain.
- Comfortable conducting research in a fully remote setting.
Nice to Have
- Experience with enterprise and/or developer tooling products.
