UX Researcher, Equity

Role Overview

insightsoftware is seeking a UX Researcher (Equity) to join the newly established UX team within the Certent Equity Management (CEM) product organization. You will plan and conduct research to understand how equity plan administrators, finance teams, participants, and broker partners interact with the CEM platform, then translate findings into actionable recommendations that improve usability and inform product decisions.

Responsibilities

Research Planning & Execution

• Plan and conduct generative and evaluative research across CEM product domains, including:
  • equity plan administration, ESPP, batch processing
  • broker integrations, admin reporting
  • financial reporting, participant experiences
• Select and apply appropriate research methods, such as:
  • usability testing, contextual inquiry, task analysis
  • card sorting, tree testing, diary studies
  • surveys, moderated/unmoderated interviews
• Design studies that account for the complexity of equity compensation workflows, where domain nuance is essential (e.g., vesting schedule configuration, ESPP purchase processing, ASC 718 disclosure reconciliation).
• Recruit and screen participants across relevant segments (e.g., administrators, finance/accounting, HR stakeholders, plan participants, broker operations contacts).
• Manage study logistics end-to-end: study design, scheduling, facilitation, note-taking, and synthesis.

Analysis & Insight Generation

• Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Develop and maintain persona frameworks, journey maps, empathy maps, and workflow models for core user segments.
• Identify usability issues and friction points, organizing insights by severity, frequency, and business impact.
• Conduct heuristic evaluations and expert reviews using both general usability principles and domain-informed expectations.
• Track and report UX metrics (e.g., task completion rate, time-on-task, error rates, satisfaction scores) to establish baselines and measure impact over time.

Product Collaboration

• Partner with Product Managers to integrate research into discovery, prioritization, and validation cycles.
• Collaborate with UI Designers to translate research insights into evidence-based design practices across the product development lifecycle.
