UX Research & Design Internship
Role type: Unpaid internship (remote, United States)
Overview
Define the optimal digital user experience for multiple projects and prospective users. Work with a senior designer, other design interns, and test users to determine design and functionality that improves usability and overall user experience.
Responsibilities
- Help define user journeys, UX strategy, and feature/enhancement recommendations.
- Balance business initiatives with technological capabilities.
- Create wireframes and prototypes to improve experiences across projects.
- Identify factors influencing user goals, needs, and experiences; build mental models.
- Contribute to UX delivery and release schedules for the UX design framework.
- Translate business requirements and user needs into engaging, usable, and valuable design solutions.
- Produce and improve user journey maps, site-maps, user-flow diagrams, and wireframes.
- Collaborate on interaction models and prototypes, including macro and micro interactions.
- Create documentation such as project briefs, presentations, and competitive analysis; communicate outcomes of UX changes and user tests to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a UX, graphic design, human-computer interaction, or related program (workshop/bootcamp/online class/bachelor’s degree).
- Knowledge of UI/UX best practices and trends.
- Strong understanding of design principles.
- Proficiency with Figma.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Ability to commit to 15–20 hours/week.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in visual design.
