UX Lead / Senior Product Designer (Model & Simulation)

Role Overview

Join Code Metal as a UX Lead / Senior Product Designer (Model & Simulation) to shape the end-to-end user experience of a geospatial and simulation platform. You’ll own UX from early concept through production-ready design specifications, partnering closely with engineering, PM, and domain experts.

Key Missions & Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end UX for a complex, data-dense geospatial and simulation product (concept to production-ready specs)
• Conduct user research with domain experts and stakeholders
• Translate technical requirements into clear interaction patterns, information architecture, and user workflows
• Own and maintain the design system, defining implementable UI standards for the frontend team
• Communicate and facilitate effectively via design reviews and research readouts with engineers, PMs, and customer stakeholders

Requirements

• Proficiency in Figma (prototyping, component libraries, design system management)
• Strong written communication for documenting design rationale, research findings, and workflow logic
• Strong user research skills (interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, synthesis into actionable direction)
• Ability to work in ambiguous, domain-heavy environments and turn incomplete requirements into design hypotheses
• Demonstrated experience designing data-dense / geospatial interfaces (e.g., maps, dashboards, operational displays)
• Ability to collaborate as a peer with a Product Manager (contributing to product thinking)

• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance
• High autonomy in a fast-moving environment with evolving requirements
