About the role
UX Engineer
Design and ship user-centered experiences that help people access care and related services, using technology to improve health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Design user flows, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes to simplify complex security/health-related data and support compliance needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (lead designers, product managers, and engineers) to deliver user-centric, insight-focused experiences.
- Conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback to refine and improve designs.
- Translate research insights and user behavior data into clear, intuitive design solutions.
- Communicate design rationale to stakeholders and align designs with user needs, business goals, and security considerations.
- Partner with developers to ensure design accuracy and seamless implementation.
- Contribute to and maintain design systems and related documentation for consistency across products.
- Use an exploratory/divergent approach and clearly communicate trade-offs.
- Participate in design critiques and collaborative design exercises.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience creating and shipping complex digital products.
- 2+ years proficiency with the Figma ecosystem.
- 1+ years verbal and visual presentation skills; able to articulate a design point of view.
- 1+ years of collaboration experience to influence team direction, vision, and delivery planning.
- 1+ years experience connecting designs to business needs, goals, and metrics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with design systems.
- Experience with user research, usability testing, and journey mapping.
Remote/Telecommute
- Telecommute flexibility is available; remote employees must follow UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
Compensation
- Salary range: $72,800–$130,000 annually (full-time), based on factors including location and experience. Benefits may include a comprehensive package, incentive/recognition, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution (eligibility requirements apply).
