About the role
UX Designer
Location: Remote / NYC (and surrounding areas), Charlotte, San Antonio, DC, Irvine Duration: 6–12+ months Note: No travel; must be onsite for week 1.
Role Overview
Work to improve and evolve the user experience by auditing existing designs, translating user needs into clear UX solutions, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to deliver accessible, consistent, and intuitive experiences across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit current user experience by reviewing existing designs, identifying user pain points, and aligning findings to product goals and technical constraints.
- Advocate for users throughout the design process; ensure solutions address real needs and meet business/regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Managers, developers, compliance, accessibility experts) to align UX with requirements.
- Create and refine wireframes, prototypes, and visual assets to communicate ideas and validate concepts.
- Support user research to inform design decisions and iterate based on feedback.
- Ensure usability and consistency by leveraging design systems and researching design patterns, including accessibility implications.
- Gather stakeholder/peer/user feedback and iterate to improve design quality.
- Prepare design handoff artifacts (documentation, annotations, accessibility considerations).
- Support development with design review participation and updates as needed.
- Track and evaluate post-launch design performance using data and user feedback.
- Independently lead UX efforts on moderately complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Influence product direction by aligning design decisions with measurable business outcomes.
- Drive cross-platform UX (mobile, web, voice) to maintain consistency and usability.
- Lead design sprints and related iterations; deliver UX artifacts during sprint execution.
- Provide constructive critique and guidance to other designers; set the standard for design review quality.
- Lead/Facilitate design strategy and concepting activities using UX methods such as:
- Design thinking
- Service design blueprinting
- Journey mapping
- User flow mapping
- Represent the user voice by collaborating with Product Managers and Product Owners on roadmap-aligned experiences.
- Work with a Design Core team on design system updates and implementation.
- Educate teams on UX chapter processes and best practices.
- Use AI-assisted design tools to improve efficiency and innovation.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Ability to audit and improve existing UX by identifying pain points and aligning to product goals and constraints.
- Strong skills in UX deliverables: wireframes, prototypes, visual design artifacts, and development handoff documentation.
- Proven collaboration with product, engineering, compliance, and accessibility stakeholders.
- Experience ensuring designs follow accessibility standards and integrate with design systems.
- Ability to lead design sprints/iterations and facilitate design strategy and definition activities.
- Strong communication and ability to influence product direction with measurable outcomes.
- Experience delivering cross-platform UX for multiple channels (mobile, web, voice).
Nice-to-Haves (Implied)
- Experience using UX methods like journey mapping, blueprinting, and user flow mapping.
- Comfort adopting AI-assisted design tools.
- Experience presenting/representing user needs to Product Management/Product Owners and influencing roadmaps.
