About the role
Role: UX Designer
Contract UX design role supporting product and cross-platform experiences.
Location / Work Arrangement
- Remote with on-site requirement for week 1
- Preferred locations: NYC (and surrounding areas), Charlotte, San Antonio, DC, Irvine
- Duration: 05 months with possible extension
Key Responsibilities
- Audit current user experiences (designs) to understand the status quo, identify pain points, and align with product goals and technical constraints.
- Advocate for users throughout the design process; ensure solutions address real user needs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, developers, compliance, and accessibility experts to meet business and regulatory requirements.
- Create and refine wireframes, prototypes, and visual assets; gather and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
- Apply user research to inform design decisions, validate concepts, and iterate based on feedback.
- Ensure usability and consistency using design systems and established design patterns; incorporate accessibility considerations.
- Prepare development handoff artifacts (documentation, annotations, accessibility details) and support design reviews/walk-throughs.
- Track and evaluate design performance post-launch using data and feedback.
- Independently lead UX efforts on moderately complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Contribute to UX Department process improvements and elevate design quality.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and influence product/portfolio direction with user-centered solutions.
- Adopt AI-assisted design tools to improve design efficiency and innovation.
- Lead cross-platform design across mobile, web, and voice interfaces.
- Use design thinking and UX methods such as:
- Service design blueprinting
- Journey mapping
- User flow mapping
- Design strategy and concepting/definition activities
- Facilitate design sprints and iterations with Product Management, UX, and development partners.
- Provide constructive design feedback to other designers; lead by example in design critique.
- Collaborate with a design core team on design system updates and implementation.
Requirements / Skills
- Strong UX practice spanning interaction design, visual design artifacts, and detailed, accessibility-aware execution.
- Ability to balance user needs with business and technical constraints.
- Experience presenting/communicating concepts via wireframes, prototypes, and documentation for stakeholder alignment.
- Ability to lead design efforts and influence product direction as a “voice of the user.”
Nice-to-Haves (Implied)
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools.
- Cross-platform UX experience including mobile/web/voice.
- Experience driving or improving design system adoption and growth.
