About the role
Role Overview
User Experience Researcher II supporting a B2B product/business line. You’ll run mixed-methods UX research that combines discovery and validation to inform product strategy and design decisions.
Responsibilities
- Execute mixed-methods UX research initiatives (generative discovery and evaluative testing)
- Partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, Engineers, Customer Support, and stakeholders to:
- Define research questions
- Design and run research studies
- Communicate insights tied to user impact and business value
- Conduct generative research (e.g., contextual inquiry, in-depth interviews, diary/field studies) and evaluative research (e.g., usability tests, concept/prototype testing, heuristic reviews)
- Translate findings into clear insights connected to willingness to purchase and perceived investment value
- Lead portions of workshops while working hands-on with a senior mentor
- Ensure PII protection is understood and applied appropriately
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a related role
- Strong UX research experience in B2B software:
- Understand complex workflows and multiple user roles (e.g., purchasers vs. daily users)
- Focus on efficiency and business outcomes
- Strong quantitative research skills and ability to assess customer willingness to purchase / perceived value
- Experience with participant recruiting and research operations:
- Scheduling tools (e.g., MS Bookings)
- Panels (e.g., User Interviews), incentives, customer outreach (with sales/marketing partners)
- Proficiency with research and analysis tools (examples mentioned): Qualtrics, research repositories (e.g., Dovetail/SharePoint), and Excel
- Experience with analysis/data tools (examples mentioned): Pendo, Excel, FullStory or equivalent
- Able to produce and present research outcomes (case studies/portfolio required)
Nice to Have
- Experience with Dovetail and Qualtrics platforms
- Direct experience in Banking, Compliance Screening, Fraud, or Identity sectors
- Experience with wireframing tools such as Figma
- Knowledge of user frameworks and synthesis approaches (e.g., Cultural Models, Jobs to Be Done, mental models, influence maps)
- Experience leading workshop portions

Contract Details
- Type: Contract (W2)
- Length: 6 months, with possibility to convert to full-time (ongoing conversion to FTE)
- Pay: $49–$51/hour on W2 only
- Remote: Prefer candidates in the Chicagoland area; open to fully remote EST/CST. No in-office requirement, but local is a nice-to-have for quarterly onsite gatherings.
