User Experience Designer

Role Overview

User Experience Designer (remote within the United States) shaping the user experience of Red Hat enterprise IT products and processes. You will turn data into design insights, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and improve usability and accessibility across platforms.

Responsibilities

• Uncover user needs, friction points, and opportunities using data analysis and user journey mapping
• Plan, produce, and refine enterprise IT products and processes based on data insights and performance requirements
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and design teams to translate concepts into functional, user-friendly solutions
• Plan, execute, and analyze usability testing for Red Hat products and processes
• Use Agile practices and tools to manage and iterate on design work

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Information Science, Media Studies, Interaction Design)
• 1+ year experience designing user experiences for applications
• Proficiency with high-fidelity prototyping tools and ability to create interactive prototypes
• Strong interaction design fundamentals (principles, patterns, and solving complex design challenges)
• Experience collaborating with engineers/product managers/stakeholders in an Agile environment
• Ability to work within and contribute to design systems
• Visual design skills (color, typography, layout)
• Experience conducting and analyzing user research (usability studies, surveys, interviews)
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design (including screen reader considerations)
• Ability to interpret user behavior data and support KPI-driven design improvements
• Familiarity with Jira and project collaboration tools

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with heuristic assessments and component library development
• Experience in open-source projects
• Design experience for technical users (developers, sysadmins, platform engineers)
