About the role
UX Designer (Remote/WFH) — Contract (5+ months)
Remote role (no travel). Must be onsite for the first week.
Best locations: NYC (and surrounding areas), Charlotte, San Antonio, DC, Irvine.
Responsibilities
- Audit and assess UX: review existing designs, identify user pain points, and align with product goals and technical constraints.
- User advocacy: ensure designs meet real user needs and support seamless, intuitive experiences.
- Cross-functional collaboration: work with product managers, developers, compliance, and accessibility experts.
- Design deliverables: create and refine wireframes, prototypes, and visual assets; support concepts with research.
- User research & iteration: apply research to inform decisions, validate ideas, and iterate based on feedback.
- Design systems & accessibility: ensure consistency with existing design systems and patterns; incorporate accessibility implications.
- Stakeholder alignment: gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders, peers, and users.
- Development handoff: prepare documentation, annotations, and accessibility considerations; support design reviews and walk-throughs.
- Post-launch improvement: track/evaluate design performance using data and feedback.
- Lead UX efforts: independently lead moderately complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Cross-platform UX: lead designs across mobile, web, and voice interfaces.
- UX strategy & artifacts: facilitate design sprints; apply UX methods such as service design blueprinting, journey mapping, and user-flow mapping.
- Design critique & mentorship: provide constructive feedback and set example for design critique.
- AI-assisted design: adopt AI-assisted design tools to improve efficiency and innovation.
Requirements
- Strong ability to audit UX, identify pain points, and align solutions to user needs, business outcomes, and technical constraints.
- Experience producing wireframes/prototypes/visual assets and supporting development handoff with accessibility considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to apply user research and iterate based on feedback.
- Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards.
Nice-to-haves (implied)
- Ability to lead design sprints, influence roadmap/product strategy with measurable business outcomes, and drive consistent UX across channels.
- Experience using UX strategy techniques such as journey mapping, blueprinting, and user-flow mapping.
- Experience contributing to design system updates and adoption processes.
