US-Based Platform Engineer (Fully Remote)

Role Overview

PadSplit is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to strengthen its backend systems and ensure stability, scalability, and performance of the core marketplace platform. The role focuses primarily on backend engineering while occasionally partnering on frontend work for cross-pod needs.

Responsibilities

• Backend development: Build, optimize, and maintain core Django services and APIs
• System architecture: Design scalable and secure solutions for marketplace growth
• Code quality: Perform code reviews and uphold engineering best practices
• Data management: Work with Postgres (and other relational data systems) to ensure data accuracy and performance
• Cross-pod support: Collaborate with other engineering pods and support occasional React-based frontend tasks
• Issue resolution: Debug platform bugs and investigate performance bottlenecks across services and infrastructure
• Team collaboration: Participate in standups, planning, and alignment with Product and QA

Requirements

• Advanced Django/Python backend engineering experience
• Hands-on AWS experience with services such as EC2, RDS, S3, and Lambda
• Strong Postgres (or similar relational database) skills
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs
• Comfortable jumping into React frontend tasks when needed
• Scalability mindset for rapidly growing platforms
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting across distributed systems
• Clear communication and proactive collaboration in an agile environment

Interview Process

• Application review by Hiring Manager
• Video screen (~30 minutes) with PeopleOps
• Video interview (~1 hour) with VP of Engineering (if warranted)
• Video panel interview (~2 hours) with a technical assessment (if warranted)
