UI/UX Designer & Reseacher (Equity Only)

Role Overview

UI/UX Designer & Researcher (Founding Design Role, Equity Only) at MealMatch AI.

You’ll be the first design voice with ownership of both product design and user research, end-to-end. This role works directly with the CEO and is tightly connected to the product roadmap.

Responsibilities

UI/UX Design

• Evolve the existing iOS app design (post-launch improvement, not just greenfield creation)
• Design new feature sets including:
  • Health Dashboard
  • Condition-aware meal planning
  • Dietitian booking experience
• Build and maintain a design system, style guide, and component library in Figma
• Ensure visual consistency, accessibility, and mobile-first polish across all screens

UX Research

• Own the user research function, including:
  • interviews
  • usability tests
  • surveys
  • synthesis
• Translate research into actionable design decisions and product recommendations
• Identify friction points in onboarding, subscription, and meal generation flows
• Understand user goals, habits, frustrations, and motivations

Collaboration

• Work closely with the CEO, CTO, and AI engineer to align design with product and technical constraints
• Partner with a registered dietitian collaborator to ensure health-forward experiences feel credible
• Support investor materials such as pitch decks and brand presentation when needed

Requirements

• 1+ year of UI/UX design experience with a portfolio showing both craft and process
• Some exposure to user research (e.g., interviews, usability tests, synthesis), including via academic or personal projects
• Figma proficiency and ability to work within an existing design language while improving it
• Understanding of mobile-first and iOS design patterns
• Ability to take ownership, communicate clearly, and thrive in an async remote environment
• Strong alignment with the mission (food as medicine; not “just a gig”)
