About the role

Role overview

We’re seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to support U.S. Army modernization initiatives. You’ll design mission-ready, user-centered experiences for next-generation, cloud-native and AI-enabled software capabilities used in dynamic operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead UX/UI design for next-generation software supporting Army modernization.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Program Managers, Software Engineers, DevSecOps, Cybersecurity Specialists, and Army stakeholders to define UX goals and design standards.
  • Conduct user research (interviews, workshops) and run usability testing with Army personnel.
  • Translate complex operational workflows into:
    • user journeys
    • task flows
    • information architectures
    • interaction designs
  • Produce wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and UI specifications for development.
  • Develop and maintain a scalable design system (components, typography, color, accessibility guidelines, interaction patterns).
  • Design interfaces that support visualization of operational data, geospatial information, Common Operating Pictures, task management, and AI-related experiences.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance (required).
  • 5+ years experience as a UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, or similar.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, CS, Information Systems, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience designing modern web-based applications with user-centered design.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous operational requirements into intuitive UX.
  • Strong experience with Figma (and/or Sketch, Adobe XD, or comparable tools).
  • Experience working with Product Owners, Software Engineers, and Agile teams.
  • Deep knowledge of interaction design, visual design, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • Familiarity with Agile and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder presentation skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience specifically designing for complex operational/mission workflows and enterprise-scale environments.
