About the role
Role Overview
Peraton is seeking a UI/UX Designer (Journeyman) to support the MODES III program under Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP). This is a remote role designing intuitive, accessible, user-centered digital experiences for web and application products.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver user-centered interfaces and interaction patterns for MODES III web and application products.
- Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and component specifications for web and mobile.
- Run/support usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), analyze results, and iterate designs based on user feedback and analytics.
- Ensure accessibility compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.x, partnering with developers to implement accessible features.
- Maintain UX artifacts such as journey maps, personas, task flows, design pattern libraries, and component documentation.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, analytics teams, and stakeholders to translate research and performance data into prioritized design work and measurable UX KPIs.
- Support Agile iteration cycles: deliver design assets in time for sprints, participate in PI planning, and attend demos/retrospectives.
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Experience requirements (minimum):
- 5+ years with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Master’s, or 7 years with an Associate’s, or 9 years with a high school diploma (or equivalent) in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated capability in the Cyberspace IT workforce via an approved certification (e.g., A+ or Network+) or documented training per DoD 8140.
- Proficiency with design/prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, Sketch, InVision, or Framer.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and iterative design processes.
- Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG accessibility guidelines.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS for design handoff.
- Strong stakeholder communication and facilitation skills.

- Eligible for Top Secret/SCI clearance.
