UI/UX Designer - Remote

Role Overview

ICF is seeking a UI/UX Designer to support federal government clients, including projects in the federal healthcare IT space (e.g., HHS and CMS). You will work with product owners and researchers to discover product opportunities and deliver solutions through iterative prototyping and testing.

Responsibilities

• Support the project’s UX vision and strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Build user empathy using research insights and participatory design to create validated UX designs.
• Ideate and solve user experience problems with your project team.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups; communicate and test user experiences.
• Review designs with QA and development teams to answer questions and support implementation.
• Communicate design process, rationale, and decisions to internal and external stakeholders.
• Work within a design system, style guides, content guides, and established UI patterns.

Requirements (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, or related field.
• 3+ years of applied UX design experience in the software industry.
• Provide and present a portfolio showing design process and deliverables.
• Must reside in the US, be authorized to work in the US, and perform work in the US.
• Must have resided in the US 3 of the last 5 years.
• Must be eligible for public trust.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA / Section 508 compliance.
• Federal contracting or healthcare IT experience.
• Active or past clearance to work with CMS or HHS.
• 10+ years of overall professional experience.

Skills / Collaboration

• Experience working effectively on schedule within a broader development team.
• Ability to participate in an Agile process and iterate quickly.
• Strong written, visual, and verbal communication.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional, distributed remote teams.
• Expertise using creative tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Sketch.
