About the role

Role: UI/UX Designer – Mobile Game

Design and refine the mobile game UI/UX for a Japanese language learning app centered on emotionally responsive, anime-inspired “Sensei” characters.

Responsibilities

  • Design high-fidelity, mobile-first UI for complex in-app systems (e.g., chat, inventory, RPG overlays, leaderboards, gacha, event banners, agent profiles).
  • Create stylized mobile game interfaces with animated elements, layered components, and character-focused layouts.
  • Develop intuitive UX flows for interacting with Sensei agents, switching chat modes, tracking progress, and accessing features.
  • Build UI kits, style guides, and reusable components in Figma for developer handoff.
  • Collaborate with Unity developers and character designers to ensure seamless UI and animation integration.
  • Design promotional UI assets (event screens, login bonuses, shop layouts).
  • Ensure mobile responsiveness for iOS and Android, with localization readiness and visual consistency.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of UI/UX design experience for mobile apps or games.
  • Ability to translate complex systems into intuitive, delightful user flows.
  • Proficiency in Figma (or Sketch/Adobe XD) and experience creating design systems.
  • Strong visual design fundamentals: layout, typography, color, and motion.
  • Familiarity with the aesthetic of anime games, visual novels, or gacha apps.
  • Collaborative and iterative working style; comfortable receiving feedback from product and creative teams.

Bonus / Nice to Have

  • Experience collaborating with Unity developers or implementing game UI.
  • Background in mobile games, edtech apps, or interactive storytelling.
  • Knowledge of localization and multi-language layout support (especially Japanese).
  • Motion/UI animation skills (e.g., After Effects, Lottie).
  • Understanding UX for emotionally responsive systems (e.g., affection levels and agent reactions).

Work Setup

  • Fully remote, async team.
  • Asia time zones preferred (but flexible).
  • Contract or full-time depending on availability and skill match.
