Role overview

Design the user experience for the Release Platform (“single pane of glass”) that supports the full software release and deployment lifecycle. You’ll partner with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to create a clear, scalable, and intuitive experience—from discovery through delivery—by simplifying complex operational workflows into cohesive internal tool UX.

Responsibilities

• Define the end-to-end UX for how teams plan, execute, monitor, and improve releases/deployments
• Simplify complex operational/technical workflows into intuitive product flows
• Design for visibility, control, confidence, and accountability across the release lifecycle
• Create workflows/patterns for:
  • release readiness
  • change review
  • deployment tracking
  • rollout status
  • incident awareness
  • rollback support
• Partner with engineering to translate existing platform capabilities into usable product experiences
• Identify confusing, fragmented, manual, or hard-to-scale parts of the current experience
• Build a coherent interaction model and visual language for a high-signal internal platform
• Produce wireframes, polished mocks, prototypes, and UX recommendations for iterative implementation
• Work with engineering, TPM, and stakeholders to map user journeys, roles, states, edge cases, and decision points
• Design for dense information environments and high-consequence workflows
• Create reusable UI patterns for internal platform experiences
• Present work, gather feedback, and iterate quickly while balancing near-term improvements with long-term vision

Requirements / Ideal background

• Strong experience designing internal tools, enterprise products, or operational workflows
• Ability to make complex systems feel simple without losing critical detail
• Strong systems thinking and information architecture skills
• Experience designing dashboards and workflow-heavy or configuration-heavy tools
• Comfortable partnering with engineers on ambiguous, early-stage product/platform problems
• Proficiency in wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI design
• Experience designing for states, edge cases, permissions, and operational risk
• Clear communication; able to work asynchronously with technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience with release management, developer platforms, deployment tooling, or observability-adjacent workflows
• Designing for platform/DevEx/infrastructure/reliability-oriented teams
• Familiarity with highly technical users and operational decision-making environments
• Experience helping define product direction when the initial design vision is not yet fully formed
