About the role
Role
UI/UX Designer / Frontend Developer to support the Enterprise Management & Control (EM&C) system for Department of Defense Satellite Communications (SATCOM). This role designs and implements user-centered, secure, web-based interfaces for a DoD environment, partnering with system engineers, frontend developers, and end users.
Responsibilities
- Design modern, responsive, and secure UI for web applications supporting DoD satellite communication systems
- Conduct user research (stakeholder interviews, usability testing) to inform design decisions
- Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs (e.g., in Figma/Adobe XD/Sketch)
- Collaborate with frontend developers to translate designs into functional components with quality and consistency
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries aligned with security and accessibility requirements
- Ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility guidelines and DoD security constraints
- Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, demos)
- Assist with implementing front-end designs to maintain visual and functional consistency
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance
- 3+ years of UI/UX design experience for web applications or enterprise software
- Strong portfolio showing end-to-end design process (research, problem framing, final UI deliverables)
- Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, etc.)
- Strong responsive design and user-centered design methodology
- Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating cross-functionally
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills
