UI/UX Designer / Frontend Developer

Role

UI/UX Designer / Frontend Developer to support the Enterprise Management & Control (EM&C) system for Department of Defense Satellite Communications (SATCOM). This role designs and implements user-centered, secure, web-based interfaces for a DoD environment, partnering with system engineers, frontend developers, and end users.

Responsibilities

• Design modern, responsive, and secure UI for web applications supporting DoD satellite communication systems
• Conduct user research (stakeholder interviews, usability testing) to inform design decisions
• Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs (e.g., in Figma/Adobe XD/Sketch)
• Collaborate with frontend developers to translate designs into functional components with quality and consistency
• Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries aligned with security and accessibility requirements
• Ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility guidelines and DoD security constraints
• Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, demos)
• Assist with implementing front-end designs to maintain visual and functional consistency

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance
• 3+ years of UI/UX design experience for web applications or enterprise software
• Strong portfolio showing end-to-end design process (research, problem framing, final UI deliverables)
• Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, etc.)
• Strong responsive design and user-centered design methodology
• Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating cross-functionally
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills
