Role overview

UI Engineer (Remote) — contract role to build and maintain responsive, accessible, high-performance UI components for a technology platform. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams (including designers) to deliver scalable solutions with strong design-system consistency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement responsive, accessible, and performant UI components using modern frameworks
  • Collaborate with designers to turn wireframes and mockups into functional interfaces
  • Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility while maintaining design system standards
  • Optimize UI performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in rendering and load times
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following best practices and accessibility standards

Required skills / qualifications

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with experience in React or Vue.js
  • Experience with responsive design principles and CSS preprocessors (Sass or LESS)
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX and ability to implement pixel-perfect designs
  • Familiarity with state management (e.g., Redux, Context API) and asynchronous programming
  • Knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines for deployment

Nice to have

  • Experience working with global, technology-focused product teams and design systems

Contract / pay

  • $30–$70 per hour
  • Remote (work from anywhere)
