UI Designer

Role Overview

Magnet is hiring a UI Designer to own the visual surface of every Magnet client site and internal product. The role sets the team’s bar for taste, with design rooted in systems (tokens/components) and delivered in a way engineers can implement faithfully.

What You’ll Do

• Set and defend design taste: audit world-class sites weekly and clearly explain why layouts work.
• Design in systems: create and maintain tokens, color/type/spacing scales, and motion timing/durations that compound across the site.
• Direct AI-assisted iteration: guide an agentic loop to generate variations, then curate, refine, and decide what ships.
• Collaborate on handoff: work with engineers who read and implement your files (tokens, auto-layout, and intent).
• Design for outcomes: focus on conversion, clarity, and durability—not awards.

Requirements

• Strong Figma fluency at the systems level (variables, auto-layout, component libraries).
• Ability to walk through a portfolio line by line and defend design decisions.
• Experience with token-based design (color systems, type scales, spacing, motion durations).
• Comfort directing or incorporating AI design tools for real client work.
• Ability to write clearly enough to brief projects, defend decisions, and email clients.

Nice-to-Haves / Emphasis

• Experience with Webflow implementations and token alignment with engineering.
• Familiarity with motion direction using GSAP or Framer Motion.

Location & Compensation

• Full-time, Remote (US)
• $90k–$110k
