Ubuntu Sales Engineer (Entry-Level)

Role Overview

Ubuntu Pro Sales Engineer (Entry-Level) on Canonical’s global Field Engineering team. You’ll help enterprise customers adopt Ubuntu Pro and related open source technologies by solving real customer problems during the presales cycle.

Responsibilities

• Collect customer business requirements and advise on Ubuntu and relevant open source applications
• Identify customer challenges and articulate how Ubuntu Pro can address them
• Deliver presentations and demonstrations of Ubuntu Pro to prospective and current clients
• Liaise with product teams to share requirements feedback that can influence the roadmap
• Work collaboratively with the sales team to achieve shared targets
• Engage with customers as part of internal/external events (including travel)

Requirements

• Exceptional academic track record (high school and university)
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject (or a compelling alternative path)
• Confidence to communicate, share ideas, and exchange feedback respectfully
• Demonstrated drive to exceed expectations
• Practical knowledge of Linux (Debian/Ubuntu preferred), virtualisation, containers, and networking
• Business-minded technology thinker and problem solver
• Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Intermediate Python programming skills
• Strong interest in continuous learning; evidence of personal projects/initiatives
• Excellent written and spoken English with strong presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Signals

• Interest in enterprise open source areas such as private clouds, machine learning/AI, and data/analytics

Logistics

• Location: remote-friendly (most colleagues work from home). Open to candidates in EMEA, Americas, and APAC time zones, from almost any country.
• Travel: up to 25% for internal/external events and 25% for customer meetings (up to ~50% total, as stated).
