Tier III Engineer

Role Overview

Senior, client-facing Tier III / Escalation & Project Engineer for a remote-first managed services provider. You will act as the primary escalation point for support teams and own technical delivery of infrastructure and cloud projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior escalation resource for NOC and support teams, resolving complex tickets requiring deeper expertise or admin access
• Lead and execute client-facing infrastructure and cloud projects (migrations, deployments, environment buildouts)
• Manage and administer Azure environments across multiple clients, including:
  • IaaS
  • Azure AD / Entra ID
  • M365 integration
• Communicate directly with clients on escalated issues and active projects, including expectation-setting and clear status updates
• Collaborate on process improvements, documentation, and knowledge transfer
• Participate in post-incident reviews and root cause analysis
• Support internal initiatives such as tooling improvements and platform administration

Requirements

• 5+ years hands-on IT experience, with meaningful time in an MSP or similar multi-client environment
• Production experience managing Azure workloads (IaaS, Entra ID, Azure Networking, Azure Monitor, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, firewall, VPN)
• Firewall administration experience (SonicWall preferred)
• M365 administration experience (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Defender)
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent client engagements simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-directed and comfortable working remotely

Nice to Have

• Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, or similar)
• Experience with PSA/RMM tools (e.g., HaloPSA, NinjaRMM, Auvik)
• Virtualization experience (Hyper-V, VMware)
• PowerShell scripting for automation/administration
• Background in change management or ITIL fundamentals

• Preference for candidates in North New Jersey for occasional on-site client visits and team collaboration; other strong candidates considered.
