Test Engineer

Role Overview

Intertek is hiring a Test Engineer for its Connected World team. This is a remote role (can be remote; based in Rockville, Maryland office).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain regression testing to support efficient release schedules.
• Work across two testing areas:
  • Cyber testing tools
  • Web development testing
• Translate high-level feature requests into releases that meet the intent of requirements.
• Understand the big picture and “why” behind features.
• Identify and validate edge cases.
• Manage test lifecycle/environment life cycle management with strong opinions on proper practices.
• Maintain documentation for testing and release processes.
• Handle multiple technologies and collaborate in a team environment; engineers do the heavy lifting, but the role supports planning and testing facilitation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in IT, CIS, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent programming experience.
• Proficiency reading 2 languages among: Python, PHP, JavaScript, C#, C, C++, SQL, Java.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of lifecycle management.
• Ability to build regression testing suites with partial automation.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted coding and agentic/AI systems to improve productivity.
• Detail-oriented with strong prioritization, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Customer-focused and quality-driven.
• Ability to travel as business needs dictate.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with a variety of technologies (implied by “many different technologies”).
