About the role
Role Overview
Test Automation Engineer (remote, based in the United States). Build reliable, scalable automated testing solutions that improve software delivery speed, confidence, and overall product quality across web, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for web, API, mobile, and microservices testing.
- Create production-quality automated test solutions using languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C# and tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, RestAssured, Pact.
- Build and maintain CI/CD test pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Implement contract testing to validate service interactions in distributed systems.
- Develop performance testing solutions (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6, Locust) including load modeling and results analysis.
- Apply security testing practices including dependency scanning, SAST, DAST, and OWASP-based validation.
- Lead discussions on test strategy, risk-based testing, exploratory testing, and shift-left quality.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify quality risks early and improve workflows.
- Investigate production issues, run root-cause analysis, and expand automated regression coverage.
- Continuously optimize test coverage, reliability, and feedback cycles.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and raise engineering standards.
- Maintain documentation, reporting dashboards, reusable testing tools, and automation libraries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years experience as an SDET/automation engineer or in software engineering roles focused on quality.
- Strong programming in at least one of: Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
- Hands-on UI automation experience with Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
- Experience automating REST and/or gRPC APIs.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into delivery workflows.
- Strong SQL skills and experience validating database-driven applications.
- Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and modern web architectures.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong debugging, communication, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Contract testing tools such as Pact or Spring Cloud Contract.
- Performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, k6, or Locust.
- Security tooling exposure such as OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, or Snyk.
