Test Automation Engineer

Role overview

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) / Test Automation Engineer to design, build, and continuously improve test automation frameworks and embed quality engineering across the SDLC. This is a 100% remote (U.S.) full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable test automation frameworks for web, API, mobile, and microservices.
• Write production-quality automated test code in Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
• Use UI and automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright.
• Implement contract testing for microservices (e.g., Pact).
• Build CI/CD test pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/Azure DevOps.
• Develop performance test suites with tools like JMeter, Gatling, k6, or Locust (including load models and result analysis).
• Apply security testing fundamentals: dependency scanning, SAST, DAST, OWASP-based checks.
• Lead test strategy discussions: risk-based testing, exploratory testing, shift-left practices.
• Collaborate with product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions.
• Perform root-cause analysis of production incidents and translate findings into automated regression tests.
• Improve test coverage, reliability, and time-to-feedback; mentor more junior engineers.
• Maintain test documentation, traceability, and reporting dashboards; contribute reusable test tools/libraries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years in SDET or test-focused software engineering roles (posting also mentions 6+ years).
• Strong programming in at least one of: Java, Python, JavaScript, C#.
• Hands-on experience with a major UI automation framework (Selenium/Cypress/Playwright).
• Experience automating REST and/or gRPC APIs.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for test automation.

Nice to have (implied)

• Experience with performance testing, security testing, and contract testing.
• Familiarity with risk-based testing, exploratory testing, and shift-left approaches.
