Technical Solutions Engineer/Web Developer

Role overview

KAI Partners is seeking a Technical Solutions Engineer / Web Application Developer to design, develop, and support internal and client-facing web applications. You’ll also build data solutions and AI-enabled workflows within a consulting context, translating evolving business needs into maintainable, auditable, and supportable systems.

Responsibilities

• Application development & support
  • Design, build, enhance, and maintain web applications
  • Own features end-to-end: design → development → testing → deployment → production support
  • Implement user workflows, data validation, audit tracking, and role-based access control
  • Troubleshoot issues across front-end, back-end, and database layers
• Backend & database development
  • Implement and maintain relational databases supporting workflows, reporting, and audit requirements
  • Define/manage database schemas, relationships, constraints, and documentation
  • Translate business processes and reporting needs into structured data models
  • Manage schema evolution and controlled data changes
• Data modeling, dashboards & reporting
  • Support KPI dashboards, executive reporting, and trend analysis
  • Convert incomplete/inconsistent client and operational data into validated datasets
  • Support Excel/CSV ingestion with validation and update processes
  • Build and maintain dashboards for internal leadership and external clients
• AI-enabled application development (responsible AI)
  • Integrate AI-assisted capabilities into production applications
  • Create prompt templates, structured inputs, validation rules, and guardrails for data quality and responsible AI use
  • Contribute to automation and AI experimentation aligned with business needs
• Client & stakeholder collaboration
  • Partner with Program Managers, Operations, and Executive stakeholders to clarify requirements
  • Lead walkthroughs/training and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Identify risks, assumptions, and gaps when requirements are ambiguous
• Documentation & operational support
  • Maintain technical documentation (developer notes, architecture diagrams, change logs)
  • Keep database schemas and data dictionaries up to date
  • Monitor performance, reliability, and data pipelines
  • Support user access provisioning and role-based permissions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and development practices

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of JavaScript-based web applications (front-end frameworks preferred)
• Experience designing and supporting backend application logic and relational databases
• Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, and web services
• Data modeling and validation using Excel, CSV, and SharePoint-hosted sources

Nice-to-haves

• Experience integrating AI capabilities with controls/guardrails for responsible usage
• Experience building audit tracking and role-based access controls
