About the role
Role Overview
The Technical Project Manager (TPM) for Data Center Operations Systems leads the delivery of software platforms and digital workflows that connect Control Systems and Data Center Operations. This is a hands-on technical delivery role focused on bridging operational needs into requirements, managing delivery, and driving adoption and support.
Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap, backlog, and delivery plan for operations software connecting BMS, EPMS, SCADA, OT telemetry, asset data, and operational workflows.
- Lead day-to-day delivery of a cross-functional team (software developers, data/AI specialists, analysts, and vendors): prioritize work, manage capacity, remove blockers, and hold owners accountable for outcomes.
- Run a pragmatic agile-light delivery model:
- maintain a prioritized backlog
- define requirements and acceptance criteria
- work in short cycles and demonstrate working functionality regularly
- minimize ceremony
- Translate requirements into user stories, process maps, interface specs, data requirements, test plans, and release roadmaps.
- Deliver and improve platforms including:
- Jira and Jira Service Management
- AI-enabled preventive/predictive maintenance applications
- Octave (formerly Hexagon) asset database integrations
- Management of Change (MOC) workflows
- operational dashboards and reporting tools
- Manage integrations between operational applications and source systems (e.g., APIs, event/alarm data, asset identifiers, work-order triggers, access controls, sync logic, exception handling, support ownership).
- Establish asset and operational data governance (source-of-truth, hierarchies, naming conventions, unique identifiers, ownership, quality checks, and lifecycle management).
- Maintain system boundaries to ensure operational software observes/analyzes/initiates approved workflows without bypassing local control, safety, cybersecurity, or authorization.
- Own delivery governance: scope, schedules, budgets, vendor performance, RAID logs, dependencies, decisions, change control, executive reporting, and recovery plans when delivery is at risk.
- Lead testing, release, and operational readiness: environment planning, integration/UAT, security reviews, cutover/rollback planning, release notes, training, and runbooks.
Requirements
- Hands-on technical delivery capability: understands data flows, APIs, asset models, operational risk, and software delivery well enough to manage dependencies and outcomes.
- Ability to translate cross-team operational needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Experience delivering cross-functional software/platform initiatives in complex operational environments (controls/operations/IT/cybersecurity/reliability/data).
Nice-to-haves (implied by role scope)
- Familiarity with BMS/EPMS/SCADA/OT telemetry and operational application integrations.
- Experience with asset data governance and lifecycle management.
- Experience delivering Jira/Jira Service Management workflows and operational dashboards/reporting.
- Exposure to AI-enabled maintenance and MOC workflows.
