About the role
Role overview
Technical Program Manager (Risk) at Stripe within the Risk and Compliance Engineering team. You’ll lead large-scale, cross-functional technical programs across engineering, product, and strategy to reduce Stripe’s financial and regulatory risk while maintaining a strong user experience.
Responsibilities
- Own definition, cross-functional strategy, planning, and execution of large technical programs spanning the Risk organization.
- Execute programs that require deep systems and engineering knowledge.
- Partner with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to scope and drive programs to completion.
- Develop and iterate on program management approaches, frameworks, and KPIs with clear success criteria.
- Improve how teams communicate and operate to increase productivity and efficiency.
- Produce high-quality written proposals, communications, and documentation.
- Use data and accumulated knowledge to drive strategic decisions at an engineering leadership level.
- Create and drive widely circulated plans to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment.
Requirements
- 7+ years experience in software engineering, systems engineering, and/or technical program management.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to digest complex information to make recommendations.
- Demonstrated program management across the software lifecycle (kick-off to launch), with critical thinking and thought leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management.
- Experience driving process improvements across multiple teams and functions.
- Ability to operate autonomously and lead large efforts across multiple teams/functions with stakeholders in different disciplines and time zones.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in financial risk and compliance.
- SQL and Python scripting/programming skills.
Work model / location
- Hybrid: available either in an office or remote location (35+ miles / 56+ km from a Stripe office).
- In-office expectation: local office time of at least 50% of the month (for office-assigned employees).
