Technical Program Manager, North Delivery & Release Operations

Role Overview

Technical Program Manager focused on release coordination for North (Cohere’s AI workspace platform). You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer delivery to ensure North ships reliably, communicates clearly, and continuously improves its release process.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end release coordination for North, including:
  • Managing release trains and defining release cadences
  • Ensuring smooth execution across engineering and product teams
• Run cherry-pick and hotfix workflows, including:
  • Triaging urgency and aligning stakeholders
  • Shepherding changes through deployment with appropriate guardrails
• Author/manage customer-facing release communications, translating technical changes into clear updates for enterprise customers and internal stakeholders.
• Establish and scale release processes to improve ship speed and confidence as the platform grows.
• Map cross-team dependencies and risks across the release pipeline; surface blockers early and coordinate resolution across Engineering, Product, and Customer Success.
• Partner with North leadership and technical staff to improve release quality, velocity, and operational rigor.
• Use and manage project tracking/release tooling (e.g., Linear, GitHub workflows) and facilitate release planning sessions across cross-functional teams.
• Respond to program-level changes by clarifying scope, adjusting timelines, and mobilizing resources when customer or market priorities shift.

Requirements

• 3+ years as a Technical or Engineering Program Manager (startup/high-growth preferred).
• Direct experience owning or significantly contributing to software release processes, including:
  • Versioning strategies
  • Hotfix workflows
  • Staged rollout coordination
• Experience working with AI/ML products or technical platforms.
• Ability to thrive in low-structure, high-impact environments—building processes from scratch and operating tactically and strategically.
• Exceptional communication skills; comfortable working closely with Technical Writing for release notes and executive summaries.
• Strong execution mindset and ability to move quickly from problem identification to implementation.
• Experience with project management and release tooling (e.g., Linear, Jira, GitHub).

Nice to Have

• Interest in automating work; enthusiasm for using tooling/process improvements to increase velocity and reliability.
