Technical Program Manager, Internal Systems

Role Overview

Technical Program Manager (Internal Systems) at Stripe. You’ll work within engineering to drive large-scale technical programs across the Stripe ecosystem, with a focus on reducing friction for internal users—particularly Sellers and Finance Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Partner across the organization to identify pain points and create multi-domain solutions.
• Define and produce high-quality proposals, communications, and technical documentation.
• Lead program execution for initiatives requiring systems/engineering-level knowledge.
• Work with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Engineers, Product Managers, and fellow TPMs to scope and drive programs to completion.
• Shape technical design by predicting roadblocks and identifying trade-offs in partnership with engineering.
• Develop and iterate program management techniques, frameworks, and KPIs with clear success criteria.
• Strengthen engineering team execution by training teams on better delivery practices.
• Influence stakeholders and build consensus in ambiguous environments.
• Use data and learned insights to support engineering leadership decisions.
• Create widely circulated plans to improve consistency, clarity, and alignment.
• Operationalize and run critical cross-functional programs across multiple engineering organizations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, and/or technical program management.
• Understanding of distributed systems.
• Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Strong analytical skills: distill complexity and make recommendations/proposals.
• Proven ability to run program management across the full software lifecycle (kickoff to launch).
• Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building with stakeholders and senior leaders.
• Ability to drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions.
• Ability to operate autonomously and lead large-scale efforts across multiple teams (final portion of sentence is truncated in the posting).
