About the role
Role Overview
As a Technical Program Manager II at Switch, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of hyperscale data center construction programs—from early planning through commissioning and operational handover. The role ensures facilities are delivered on schedule, within scope, and aligned to Switch standards, while managing risk and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of construction programs: pre-construction, design coordination, procurement tracking, construction, commissioning support, and operations handover
- Build and maintain project schedules, milestones, and execution plans
- Track scope, schedule, and cost performance against commitments
- Lead risk identification, maintain program risk registers, and own mitigation plans
- Run change control processes (evaluate change orders and scope impacts)
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and design intent for alignment/constructability
- Coordinate submittals, RFIs, field changes, and design clarifications
- Partner with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable codes
- Maintain dashboards and weekly executive reporting; highlight risks, issues, and decisions needed
- Facilitate cross-functional coordination meetings and drive alignment
- Support punch-list completion and contractual closeout requirements
- Travel up to 30% as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field
- 3–6 years experience managing construction projects
- Experience managing projects from pre-construction through handover
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Understanding of construction sequencing and field execution
- Experience with project management tools: MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or Smartsheet
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Data center or mission-critical construction experience
- Hyperscale or large-scale infrastructure project experience
- Familiarity with commissioning and integrated systems testing
- PMP certification
