About the role

Role Overview

Technical Program Manager II at Switch, responsible for the end-to-end delivery of hyperscale data center construction programs—from early planning through commissioning and operational handover. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage risk, and drive execution to ensure facilities are delivered on schedule, within scope, and aligned to Switch standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle delivery for data center construction programs:
    • Pre-construction and design coordination
    • Procurement tracking
    • Construction execution support
    • Commissioning support and operations handover
  • Build and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and execution plans
  • Track scope, schedule, and cost performance against commitments
  • Own risk management:
    • Identify risks, maintain risk registers
    • Create/track mitigation plans through project completion
  • Manage change control and evaluate change orders and scope impacts
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and design intent for alignment and constructability
  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, field changes, and design clarifications
  • Partner with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to resolve issues
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable codes
  • Maintain dashboards and weekly reporting for leadership; elevate key risks/issues/decisions in executive updates
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination meetings and drive alignment
  • Support punch-list completion and contractual closeout requirements
  • Travel up to 30% as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field
  • 3–6 years of experience managing construction projects
  • Experience managing projects from pre-construction through handover
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Understanding of construction sequencing and field execution
  • Experience with project management tools such as:
    • MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or Smartsheet
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience
  • Hyperscale or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with commissioning and integrated systems testing
  • PMP certification
