About the role
Role Overview
Join SandboxAQ’s AI Simulation (AISim) Business Unit as a Technical Program Manager (AI Simulation). You will lead cross-functional operations for a portfolio of technical programs, ensuring alignment across teams and driving clear milestone/status communication while building repeatable processes and execution tools.
Key Missions
- Establish program operating cadence across teams and functions, including:
- Early surfacing of risks and dependencies
- Milestone and status communication
- Run the cross-vertical cadence for Chemical Simulation, including:
- Weekly stand-ups
- Monthly business reviews
- Quarterly reporting cycles
- Design and operationalize a program management toolkit for Chemical Simulation, including:
- Dashboards
- Decision logs
- Resourcing models
- Reporting templates
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leaders across science, product, engineering, business development, and operations.
- Translate technical detail into executive and non-technical government-facing communications.
- Drive trade-off conversations when scope, time, or budget are at risk.
- Support execution against U.S. Government program requirements (milestone reporting, compliance documentation, contracting cadence).
Requirements
- U.S. Person eligibility (Permanent Resident or Citizen) due to U.S. Government contractual requirements.
- 8+ years managing complex, multi-workstream technical programs in regulated, high-stakes environments (e.g., federal contracts, defense, enterprise R&D).
- Demonstrated technical literacy in AI, scientific computing, or materials/chemistry programs to credibly challenge schedules/scope/dependencies with scientists and engineers.
- Direct experience with federally funded R&D programs such as CHIPS Act, BAA, OTA, or similar.
- Exceptional executive-level communication, including translating technical details for government and executive stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering, computer science, physical sciences, or related); advanced degree preferred.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with materials science, semiconductor manufacturing, or computational chemistry.
- Experience standing up the operating system for a new business unit or program office in a high-growth company.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification.
