Technical Product Owner

Role Overview

The Technical Product Owner (TPO) aligns business goals with hands-on technical execution to ensure delivery of high-quality software products. This is not an administrative Scrum Master or pure project management role—the position is deeply technical, requiring software engineering/architecture/system analysis experience.

The TPO partners closely with Product Managers, Technical Solutions Analysts, and Product & Engineering teams to translate roadmaps into actionable engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Manage and prioritize the product backlog, balancing business needs with engineering capacity and technical dependencies
• Determine and track engineering capacity utilization to enable predictable sprint planning and delivery
• Lead cross-functional discovery for technical initiatives
• Write detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for development and QA
• Run user story refinement sessions so stories are sprint-ready and understood
• Accept deliveries based on acceptance criteria and functional validation
• Own sprint planning (sprint scope and coordination with Engineering and QA)
• Lead sprint execution and Scrum ceremonies: daily standups, sprint reviews/demos, retrospectives, and release planning
• Report IT delivery performance metrics (defects, enhancements, key initiatives)
• Maintain clear documentation for the sprint backlog, progress, and releases
• Partner with engineers to ensure solutions are technically feasible, scalable, and aligned with architectural standards
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and coordinate releases to ensure quality
• Analyze sprint/delivery data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
• Drive continuous improvement of Agile delivery processes, tools, and team collaboration practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years experience in Agile software development environments
• Technical background enabling work across integrations and system understanding

• Strong technical communication and documentation skills to bridge product vision and delivery
• Ability to engage confidently with developers and make decisions balancing technical feasibility with business value

Location / Work Model

• Based at Las Vegas, NV headquarters (reports to SVP of Engineering)
• Strong remote candidates in PST, MST, or CST considered
• Occasional travel to Las Vegas may be required
