Technical Lead

Role Overview

As a Technical Lead on the Passenger Apps team, you will lead delivery and ongoing development of Masabi’s native passenger applications (iOS, Android, and Web). The role is hands-on, with roughly a 50/50 split between technical contribution and people leadership, delivery management, and team coordination.

This includes integrating the Justride SDK and public API capabilities into white-label passenger experiences deployed across transit agencies worldwide.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Own delivery across Passenger iOS, Android, and Web applications; remove blockers and keep releases predictable
• Stay actively involved in technical implementation, design discussions, and code reviews; set expectations for engineering quality
• Drive integration of Masabi Justride SDK and public APIs into passenger applications
• Lead application migrations, release management, rollout planning, and deployment activities
• Support engineering practices that enable effective delivery across the team

People Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and support engineers via regular 1:1s, coaching, performance feedback, and development conversations
• Create an environment where engineers can grow and do their best work
• Partner with Product and Engineering stakeholders to align priorities, delivery plans, and team goals
• Promote a collaborative and inclusive team culture
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and team growth as needed
• Provide visibility to stakeholders on delivery progress, risks, and dependencies

Requirements

• Strong hands-on engineer; experienced in at least one native platform:
  • Swift/UIKit or Kotlin/Coroutines
• Led technical delivery across engineering teams, ensuring quality through design guidance and code reviews
• Managed and grew engineers directly (including running 1:1s and providing honest feedback)
• Comfortable with multi-tenant / white-label products (one codebase serving multiple customers)
• Experience delivering and evolving production applications, including migrations or modernization
• Knowledgeable about SDK and API integrations
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and able to explain how they’ve been integrated into workflow
• Calm communicator who keeps stakeholders aligned while balancing coding and leadership

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with release management, rollout strategies, and deployment processes
• Knowledge of CI/CD tooling and engineering quality practices
• Experience participating in hiring, onboarding, or team growth activities
